World Senior Chess Championship is being held in Arco, Italy. Senior chess players from 50 different countries are participating.

World Senior Champion Nona Gaprindashvili (2363) and European Senior Champion Tamar Khmiadashvili (2162) are also taking part.

21 chess players are participating in women, 11 of which have international titles. Nona Gaprindashvili is the first in rating and Tamar Khmiadashvili – the 4th.

After 2 rounds Khmiadashvili is distributing 1-3 places with 2 points and Gaprindashvili is on the fourth place with 1.5 points.

World Championship is 9-rounds Swiss system.
