Interview with Davit Kodua

It is the third day that international tournament five-time champion Maia Chiburdanidze Cup is being held in Tbilisi Chess Palace. This year tournament met the guests with a novelty, the leaders' games the first six boards are transmitted directly and any chess compassionate can watch it online in every part of the world. Georgia isn't  inexperienced in organizing international tournaments, but online games is something new in Georgian reality. We will talk to the technical director of this tournament, general secretary of Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti Chess Regional Federation, the director of Nana Aleqsandria chess school in Poti – Davit Kodua about this.

-Davit, how did you manage to provide tournament in this way?

-Several days before the tournament Georgian Chess Federation and Nana Aleqsandria chess school in Poti bought 3-3 electronic boards. Early we didn't have such boards in Georgia and we couldn't manage to transmit in direct, we also had another problem we didn't have appropriate technical-computer maintenance. Unfortunately we don't have specialists with appropriate knowledge. We decided to solve this problem on our own. There were several persons in the working group former chess player and programmer Lasha Shamatava, Dato Pkhakadze, Nikoloz Tatanashvili, me and several employees of Georgian Chess Federation. The work was really difficult but we achieved the desired results and are satisfied. In the first two rounds we managed to turn on only three boards but for the third round six of them were on.
